This is Stumpy (no, we did not name him). He is a 4(ish) year old Golden Retriever/Basset Hound mix that my sister adopted from Georgia. (Did you ever hear of such a mixing!?)
Stumpy can run surprisingly fast for having such short front legs, and his hound instincts make him untrustworthy to stick around the house..... but he's sweet, darn cute, and very lovable. I think he's a keeper.
I hope more shelter dogs can find loving homes and be saved.... if you're thinking about a dog or cat, check out your local humane society- so many have only days left.....
I am SO in love with Stumpy! I have a weak spot for hounds. Your parents should consider getting an invisible fence - we have a blue tick beagle and he learned his boundaries quickly and LOVES his freedom and we don't have to worry about him getting lost in the woods!
ReplyDeletefor some reason this dog makes me laugh, in a good way! That is such an odd mix, but he is SO adorable!! Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe thought of that Lynn...not sure how much time and money is invested with invisible fences, and with so much space at the farm i wonder how that would work out, but we'll see! i think dad mentioned he had a hound growing up and that he never stuck around....
ReplyDeleteker- he gives me the chuckles, too! what a crazy mix....
Yeah, we have a friend who bought an invisible fence and didn't use it and said they'd sell it cheap, if we'd like. Probably going to try! If anyone is looking for Labrador Retrievers or mixes of that breed, the New England Lab Rescue (you can find it on facebook) helps rescue from southern High-Kill Shelters (Where we saved Stumpy) to get them to NE for forever homes. So worth helping our furry friends like Stumpy Stump!
